Park Street School Apartments is a prime example of how beneficial to the community historical architecture can be. Wright-Ryan Construction completed a restoration of the former Park Street school, involving a 34,492 square foot renovation and a new addition on the back for 30 units of affordable elderly housing. The renovation of the 1920s-era brick school building preserved many historical elements, including original chalkboards and coat closets, slate floors, glass-paned doors, and transom windows.  Wright-Ryan Millwork performed a detailed window analysis for the reproduction of each historic window.

The project had many funding sources, including Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Maine State Housing Authority, State and Federal Tax Credits and the United States Department of Agriculture – Rural Development. In fact, Park Street School Apartments is the first Construction Management At-Risk project in the state of Maine for the United States Department of Agriculture – Rural Development.
