The Maine Audubon Society, a leading environmental institution, charged the design and construction team with developing a facility that would set a new standard for environmental responsibility. Before the days of LEED, this project incorporated “green” building materials throughout, including recycled steel, drywall, and flooring and green-certified wood framing and siding. A ground source heat pump provides heating and cooling for the building. In addition to managing the construction, Wright-Ryan oversaw the incorporation of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of donated goods and services.
