The Cannery
Location: Portland, ME
Architect: Van Dam | Renner

This historic 33,000 square foot, three-story masonry and heavy timber warehouse structure was originally used as a blueberry canning facility and had been vacant for 20 years. The building needed extensive restructuring due fire damage and exposure to the elements. Construction of a highly detailed brewery, restaurant, and lounge proceeded concurrently on a fast-track basis with the restoration of the shell and interior. In addition to the building construction, Wright-Ryan oversaw the completion of site improvements including the construction of a park at Gorham’s Corner, new brick and cobblestone walkway, and a 55-space parking lot.
