Portland – At the Maine Real Estate and Development Association’s (MEREDA) annual spring conference, three of local construction manager Wright-Ryan Construction’s projects were given awards for being recognized as the most notable 2012 commercial development projects in Maine. There were six awards given in all. All of the projects embody MEREDA’s belief in responsible development and were selected based environmentally sustainability, economic impact, energy efficiency, social impact, and job creation.
Wright-Ryan received recognition for their efforts at the University of New England Harold Alfond Forum, a 105,000 square foot ice arena and athletic facility on the UNE Biddeford campus. Also recognized were two affordable housing projects for Avesta Housing. One was the redevelopment of the former Park Street School in Kennebunk and the other a new construction on Oak Street in downtown Portland.
“Wright-Ryan is honored to have been a part of such notable projects in our State. These three projects have added to the fabric of our community and will continue to contribute to the economy for decades to come. The fact that Wright-Ryan was able to build half of all projects recognized by MEREDA is an impressive statement about our work and our partners who help make it happen,” commented Tom Frederick, Vice President.
